12+ Years in East Hartford

Our family operated a convenience store in East Hartford for about 12 years. That business was built on trust and word of mouth. We did not sell alcohol or lottery. We served our customers with honesty and consistency, and they came back because they knew what to expect.

A New Focus

After taking a break, we came back with a clear purpose. Connecticut has a growing Muslim population, and Hartford County has strong demand for halal grocery and halal meat. For years, many families had to travel to New York to find a halal store they could trust. We wanted to change that.

Raised in East Hartford, Saad worked in the family business from a young age. He transitioned into software development before returning to focus on community and service. He now leads Barakah Halal Meats and Asian Grocery, continuing the family's commitment to trust and responsibility.

Operations

Mohammed Aminul Islam

Over 50 years of business experience. He began working as a teenager in Bangladesh and went on to build a successful convenience store in Connecticut. Known for trust and consistency, he has invested in sadaqah jariyah including masjid construction and education. His experience is the foundation of this business.

Marketing and Operations

Tasnim Islam

Yale graduate and product manager in legal tech. Tasnim supports marketing and operations, bringing a sharp eye for detail and communication to the business. Her professional background adds a modern edge to a family-run store.
